Chartered by our Shelton Kiwanis Club in 1966 and co-sponsored today by the Hood Canal Kiwanis Club, the Shelton High School Key Club is a dynamic student leadership program. That club continues to be an integral part of SHS and the community at large.
Key Club International is the oldest and largest service program for high school students worldwide. The student-led organization teaches leadership through service to others. Every day, Key Club members carry out the motto “Caring: Our Way of Life.” Each Key Club has the autonomy to select its own service projects. However, clubs unite in service under the banner of the Key Club International Major Emphasis Program, Children: Their Future, Our Focus. The program emphasizes specific areas of child growth, including personal development and social interaction.
Members of the Kiwanis International family, Key Club members build themselves as they build their schools and communities. Key Club has approximately 260,000 members in approximately 5,000 clubs. Service is at the heart of every club and, internationally, Key Clubbers stage nearly 150,000 service projects, devote more than 6 million hours of service, and raise nearly US $100 million every year for communities, families and projects.
